About the Role

Mortenson seeks a Payroll Manager to lead daily payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate payments while supporting operational needs and regulatory compliance. The role oversees payroll operations, implements robust processes and internal controls, mentors staff, and drives performance using metrics and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include developing procedures, managing technology roadmaps with vendors like ADP, serving as a subject matter expert for projects, collaborating across departments, and leading cost‑reduction initiatives. • Oversee daily payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely payments and regulatory compliance. • Implement and maintain internal controls and business processes to mitigate risk. • Supervise, mentor, and develop payroll team members, including hiring and performance management. • Use performance metrics to forecast resource needs and drive continuous improvement. • Manage payroll technology roadmap, coordinate with vendors (e.g., ADP), and lead system upgrades. • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on special projects and contribute to company initiatives. • Collaborate with Operations, Project Accounting, and Business Services to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. • Maintain confidentiality and support inclusive workplace practices and EEO policies.

What You Bring

Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (or equivalent), Certified Payroll Professional certification preferred, at least five years of payroll administration experience with supervisory duties, strong knowledge of integrated payroll systems (Oracle Cloud, UKG), and advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills. Leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication abilities are essential, along with experience handling complex payroll topics, maintaining confidentiality, and fostering inclusive workplace practices. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance (or equivalent) and preferably a Certified Payroll Professional certification. • Possess at least five years of payroll administration experience, including supervisory responsibilities. • Demonstrate strong proficiency with integrated payroll systems (Oracle Cloud, UKG) and advanced Excel/Word/PowerPoint. • Exhibit leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication skills with attention to detail.
