About the Role
The role is responsible for steering the UK MOD Enterprise accounts, establishing strategic relationships, and positioning AECOM for major future pursuits. As the senior client account manager, the incumbent will coordinate day‑to‑day communications between the Defence Leadership Team, other MOD account managers and the UK Defence Nuclear Enterprise Lead to identify and prioritize strategic opportunities. Leadership duties include cultivating effective relationships with internal stakeholders such as business units, commercial teams, work‑winning groups and strategic marketing, as well as external counterparts across AECOM’s global geographies. The director sets and implements account strategies, objectives and financial outcomes for the UK MOD Enterprise portfolio. In sales and growth, the director helps shape the regional defence growth strategy, defines targets, and prioritises pursuits in collaboration with operating unit leaders and capture managers. Responsibilities cover business development, pipeline management, Go/No‑Go decision discipline, team formation for major pursuits, and partnership with marketing to launch targeted campaigns that showcase AECOM’s capabilities. • Lead UK MOD Enterprise accounts, reporting to the Head of Defence UK, Europe & India. • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, global AECOM teams, and MOD counterparts. • Define and execute account strategies, objectives, and financial targets. • Develop regional defence growth and business development strategy with leadership teams. • Drive business development and win strategic pursuits valued at $5‑$20 million. • Manage sales pipeline, conduct Go/No‑Go decisions, and coordinate capture teams for major pursuits. • Collaborate with Marketing to create and launch strategic campaigns for key opportunities. • Provide insight on defence and security challenges to shape sales and pursuit activities. • Commit to diversity, inclusion, and provide reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities.

What You Bring
The Business Development – Account Director role focuses on expanding AECOM’s presence with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). Reporting to the Head of Defence UK, Europe & India, the position sits on the Defence Leadership Team and works closely with other defence sector leaders across business lines. An active UK Security Clearance—or the ability to obtain one—and willingness to pursue Developed Vetting are required, as is regular travel to London and other UK offices. The successful candidate will bring senior‑level experience in infrastructure advisory or comparable professional services, deep knowledge of the UK defence sector, and a proven record of winning contracts worth $5‑$20 million. Strong customer engagement, business acumen, emotional intelligence, and an extensive network of MOD and OEM stakeholders are essential. • Require active UK Security Clearance (or ability to obtain) and potential Developed Vetting. • Possess senior‑level experience in infrastructure advisory or consulting selling into defence, with a strong MOD network.
