About the Role
The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining a wide range of equipment, including heavy and compact machines, light service tools, and service trucks. Work includes preventative inspections as well as repairs to hydraulic, fuel, exhaust, brake, suspension, electrical, HVAC, and emission systems. Technicians apply advanced diagnostic knowledge to identify mechanical issues and perform corrective actions on diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles such as excavators, wheel loaders, and compactors. They also interpret condition reports, communicate findings with supervisors or operators, and ensure all maintenance paperwork and consumables logs are accurately completed. • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and emission systems on heavy equipment. • Perform preventative maintenance and engine overhauls on diesel and gasoline vehicles. • Interpret equipment condition reports and coordinate with supervisors or operators for clarification. • Complete work orders, parts usage records, and daily consumables reports in the fleet management system. • Analyze oil samples and onboard computer data to guide maintenance decisions. • Follow all safety policies, including OSHA HazCom, Lock Out Tag Out, and fire protection regulations. • Access health care and dependent care spending accounts. • Participate in an employee assistance program and discount initiatives.

What You Bring
The role requires a minimum of one year’s experience with heavy equipment, ASE certifications covering brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrain components, and a mechanical or electrical trade school credential. Additional skills such as welding, fabrication, and familiarity with Tier 4 emission technologies are valued. • Hold ASE certification covering brakes, hydraulics, electrical, drivetrain, and emissions. • Possess at least one year of hands‑on experience servicing excavators, wheel loaders, and compactors. • Maintain a trade school certificate or degree in mechanical/electrical diagnostics and have welding or fabrication skills.
