Field Engineer
Assist construction projects with field and office engineering tasks.

About the Role
The position involves on-site and office responsibilities, including reviewing schedules, maintaining contract documents, and supporting construction activities to ensure conformance with plans and specifications. • Complete training on assigned tasks. • Manage limited office functions for construction projects. • Review and update project schedules and record drawings. • Maintain logs of contract documents. • Support field work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. • Upload documents to the construction management document control system. • Review engineering submittals for contract compliance. • Verify material test reports against contract requirements. • Perform office engineer duties: material submittal reviews, meeting minutes, contractor pay estimates, RFIs, quantity calculations. • Read and interpret construction drawings/specifications to identify discrepancies. • Audit daily construction reports for accuracy and consistency. • Coordinate with Resident Engineer to recommend solutions and act as liaison. • Conduct inspections using checklists to identify document conflicts. • Follow ethical decision-making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or a related field, have 1-3 years of relevant experience, and possess strong technical writing, analytical and communication abilities. A valid Illinois driver’s license and immediate eligibility to work in the United States are required. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field. • 1–3 years post-degree experience in construction or engineering. • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills. • Valid Illinois driver’s license and immediate U.S. work eligibility. • Proven safety record and compliance with health, safety and harassment policies. • Preferred: office engineering experience on large projects, labor compliance, Certified Payroll verification, E.I.T. status, e-builder experience.
