About the Role
The incumbent should be able to identify most standard overhead and underground utility equipment. Responsibilities include collecting facilities field data for updating records or preparing design documents. The role involves data collection, measurement, mapping, field photography, equipment inventory, staking, and other field‑based reconnaissance under the direction of senior technical or engineering staff. Accurate field data gathering may use paper drawings, forms, electronic devices, digital cameras, or other project‑specified formats. The incumbent must correctly identify items to document, record measurements and dimensions with appropriate detail, and apply correct standards and symbology for clear office‑based interpretation. Engineering teams at Pike work on transmission and distribution, substations, smart‑meter technologies, renewable energy, telecommunications, storm‑damage assessment, and related fields, ensuring essential services remain operational for customers. • Collect and record field data using paper drawings, electronic devices, digital cameras, and other specified formats. • Identify and document standard overhead and underground utility equipment. • Utilize hand‑held data collection units, laser range finders, GPS receivers, and digital cameras for measurement and mapping. • Assist senior technical staff as a design or staking assistant and support power‑restoration efforts during natural disasters. • Follow Pike Engineering’s safety manual, advocate safety, and participate in safety initiatives. • Meet production targets, adhere to project deliverables and milestones, and produce clear, standardized documentation. • Work independently and as part of a team, providing guidance to less‑skilled employees and training new peers.
