Job Highlights
About the Role
Our national fluvial and pluvial modelling team provides real‑time and non‑real‑time flood modelling for flood‑warning improvements, strategic infrastructure projects and sector‑wide studies, and you will help grow this capability while mentoring junior staff and contributing to WSP’s international practice network. • Deliver and lead flood forecast modelling and hydrology studies using Flood Modeller and PDM. • Perform quality assurance and independent technical reviews of flood forecasting outputs. • Produce high‑quality client and public‑facing deliverables, communicating complex data visualisations. • Collaborate with fluvial and pluvial modelling leadership to enhance service offerings. • Mentor and support less‑experienced flood‑forecast modellers. • Contribute to bid proposals and develop innovative client solutions. • Manage project, commercial and financial aspects of assignments. • Liaise with clients and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles. • Uphold a "safety first" mindset in line with WSP policies. • Work collaboratively with global WSP teams despite primary UK focus.

What You Bring
We are expanding our UK‑based flood‑forecasting capacity within the Sustainable Water Management team and are seeking experienced flood‑forecast modellers and hydrologists at all levels to deliver real‑time flood‑modelling projects alongside our existing hydraulic modelling specialists. • Deep knowledge of UK flood‑forecasting techniques, rating review, Flood Modeller and PDM with proven real‑time model development experience. • Experience meeting UK statutory requirements (EA, SEPA, NRW, DfI). • Strong commercial awareness and track record in winning proposals and identifying business opportunities. • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills at all levels. • Proven report‑writing, technical review, numerical and analytical abilities with attention to detail. • Chartered status (or commitment to attain within an agreed period) with a relevant professional body. • Flexibility to review non‑real‑time modelling is advantageous.
