About the Role

The Recycling Center Maintenance Technician performs repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment, heavy equipment and light trucks to ensure safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include hydraulic systems, sorting screens, optical sorters, magnets, eddy currents, electrical systems, balers, conveyors, and compactors. Diagnoses mechanical problems using charts, diagnostic software, manuals and expertise. Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on recycling equipment, heavy equipment, and trucks, including hydraulic, transmission, electrical, engine, baler, conveyor, and compactor systems. Repairs or replaces parts per work order, completes field service reports, overhauls machine components, and communicates with supervisors or operators. Independently troubleshoots complex electromechanical equipment, records consumables usage, and may maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, odor and negative pressure systems. Installs new equipment, works with vendors on maintenance schedules, reads and programs simple PLC instructions, follows safety policies, and performs other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

At least one year of building maintenance, HVAC, odor and negative pressure experience and three years working on equipment in a manufacturing or distribution environment are required. Knowledge of Tier 4 emissions, welding/fabrication, PLC programming, a valid driver’s license, and a mechanical or trade school certificate are also needed. Minimum of one year equipment maintenance and repair experience is required.
