About the Role
The role involves providing local technical assistance for design, development, and construction of bridges, retaining walls, and roadway structures, generating accurate documentation, and ensuring design quality, safety, structural soundness, and functionality. Under general supervision, the engineer will analyze site data, conduct research and inspections, perform routine engineering functions, verify structural characteristics, produce CAD drawings and reports, follow safety guidelines, complete training, and support final design plans and cost estimates. • Analyze physical site data, surveys, blueprints, geotechnical information, and utility matrices for project development. • Conduct research and inspections of existing and proposed site conditions to ensure compliance with design and construction standards. • Perform entry‑level structural engineering tasks, including safety and functionality assessments for infrastructure and transportation systems. • Verify site characteristics and assist in confirming structural soundness against loads and pressures. • Produce accurate documentation using CAD, 2D/3D illustrations, drawings, and site logs. • Follow safety guidelines, site‑specific procedures, and WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates. • Commit to workplace safety and adherence to WSP health, safety, and harassment policies.

What You Bring
WSP is seeking a full‑time Early Career Structural Engineer for its Atlanta, GA office, working with the Southeast Transportation Engineering Team on public and private building and infrastructure projects. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or related), have 0‑1 years of post‑education experience, an internship in structural engineering, strong research, communication, and self‑leadership skills, basic technical writing and software proficiency, and a commitment to safety and WSP policies. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, EIT certification, professional organization involvement, and familiarity with design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, and others. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with coursework in structural analysis, reinforced concrete, and steel design. • Possess 0‑1 year of relevant experience and a prior structural engineering internship. • Demonstrate strong research, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills. • Show self‑leadership, attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization abilities. • Maintain basic proficiency in technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and engineering tools. • Preferred: Master’s degree in structural engineering, Engineer in Training certification, active participation in professional societies. • Preferred: Experience with design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AASHTOWare, Leap, CSiBridge, OPENBRIM, STAAD, or MIDAS Civil.
