About the Role

The Manager, Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) provides leadership and strategic direction for the HSSE programs at the DP World container terminal in Prince Rupert. This role is accountable for continuously improving existing programs and identifying new initiatives that enhance safety performance across the facility. Key responsibilities include developing standardized HSSE systems, policies, training and campaigns, as well as creating annual plans that align with Globe, regional, and Shared Services Canada strategies. The manager leads internal and external audits, oversees incident investigations and root‑cause analyses, ensures regulatory compliance, co‑chairs Joint Health and Safety Committees, and utilizes the GHSE Management System to drive data‑based results. Additionally, they coach and mentor the HSSE team, manage operating and capital safety budgets, guide return‑to‑work processes, and oversee the security management program. • Develop and implement standardized HSSE systems, policies, training, and campaigns • Create HSSE annual plans aligned with corporate and regional strategies • Lead internal and external audits, develop corrective action plans, and drive continuous improvement • Manage incident investigations, conduct root‑cause analyses, and ensure timely corrective actions • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, inspections, complaints, and Transport Canada standards • Co‑chair Joint Health and Safety Committees and facilitate positive labor relations • Utilize the GHSE Management System to track metrics and drive data‑based results • Coach, mentor, and develop HSSE team members as strategic business partners • Oversee operating and capital safety budgets and monitor financial performance • Guide return‑to‑work processes with empathy and compliance • Direct security management programs, including drills, audits, and guard services

What You Bring

Ideal candidates hold a degree in Occupational or Industrial Health and Safety with a CRSP designation (or equivalent) and have at least five years of management experience in HSSE within a heavy‑industrial, unionized environment. They possess a proven track record in leading critical incident investigations, developing corrective‑action projects, and liaising with government, regulatory, industry, and labour organizations. Fluency in English, Canadian work experience, and the ability to obtain Transport Canada Security Clearance are also required. • Degree in Occupational/Industrial Health and Safety with CRSP designation (or equivalent) • Minimum 5 years of HSSE management experience in a heavy‑industrial, unionized setting • Proven experience leading critical incident investigations and corrective‑action projects • Strong liaison skills with government, regulatory, industry, and labour organisations • Fluent in English; Canadian work experience preferred • Ability to obtain Transport Canada Security Clearance and legally work in Canada
