About the Role

Mortenson is seeking a Director of Planning and Scheduling to lead project planning and execution, develop standardized lean planning frameworks, and support project teams in delivering safer, higher‑quality, and more productive projects while minimizing risk. In this role, you will define the strategic direction for planning, integrate it with Lean and Innovation objectives, govern policies for risk management, and partner with technical leaders and operating groups to advance planning practices. You will also lead and mentor planners, superintendents, foremen, and schedulers, document best practices, enhance learning and training programs, provide just‑in‑time support, develop KPIs, and evaluate new tools and technologies. • Set strategic direction for project planning and execution • Integrate planning processes with Lean and Innovation objectives • Govern policies for planning and risk management • Collaborate with technical leaders and operating groups to enhance planning practices • Lead, mentor, and develop planners, superintendents, foremen, and schedulers • Document and share best practices for continuous improvement • Design and deliver just‑in‑time training and planning support for project teams • Develop planning KPIs and assessment methodologies • Evaluate and adopt new planning tools, processes, and technologies

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field and brings at least 12 years of industry experience, including success implementing Lean construction methodologies such as the Last Planner System. Experience leading company‑wide planning programs, field operations planning, work packaging, and trade flow management is required, with preferred background as a superintendent or project manager on commercial construction projects. Technical expertise should include mastery of Project Planning, Primavera P6, CPM, LBS, WBS, and the Last Planner System®, as well as familiarity with MS Project, ASTA PowerProject, NetPoint, Synchro 4D, and 4D visual planning. Knowledge of construction contracts, EEO, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative action plans is essential, and the role requires the ability to travel up to 100%. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field • Minimum 12 years of construction industry experience • Proven success implementing Lean construction and Last Planner techniques • Experience leading company‑wide project planning programs and field operations planning • Preferred background as superintendent or project manager on commercial construction projects • Skilled in scheduling risk mitigation and claims management • Strong leadership, communication, problem‑solving, and teamwork abilities • Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, ASTA PowerProject, NetPoint, Synchro 4D, and 4D visual planning • Knowledge of CPM, LBS, WBS, and The Last Planner System® • Ability to travel up to 100% as required

Compensation ranges from $158,600 to $238,000, with higher ranges for certain locations, and includes eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan. Benefits for non‑craft, non‑union positions working 25+ hours per week encompass medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401k plan with a generous match, paid time off, life, AD&D, and disability insurance, mental‑health resources, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and a gym membership discount. • Base salary $158,600‑$238,000, with higher ranges for select locations • Eligible for Mortenson incentive plan and comprehensive benefits package • Benefits include medical, vision, dental, 401k match, paid time off, life/AD&D/disability insurance, mental‑health resources, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and gym membership discounts
