About the Role
The Lead Engineer – Product Line Support leads the development, implementation, and upkeep of standardized product designs and assembly processes, providing technical expertise and driving continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reliability, and cost‑efficiency. In this role the engineer acts as the plant liaison for the Panelboard and Switchboard site in Sumter, ensuring design accuracy for existing products and new feature launches, and serving as the local expert on applicable codes and standards such as UL, NEC, CSA, NEMA, and CAN/ENA. Key duties include creating documentation, supporting cross‑functional teams, facilitating training, developing best‑practice guidelines, tracking plant requests, and reporting product‑line engineering activities during plant staff meetings. The position also supports PROLaunch, sustaining, MOL, and VAVE projects, manages change requests and design deviations, participates in continuous‑improvement activities, monitors warranty and service trends, conducts root‑cause analyses, and performs field and job‑site visits. • Oversee development, implementation, and maintenance of standardized product designs and assembly processes • Provide technical expertise and resolve design-related issues • Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives to boost product quality, reliability, and cost‑efficiency • Create and maintain documentation, support cross‑functional teams, and conduct training • Serve as the plant liaison for Panelboard and Switchboard sites, ensuring design accuracy and new‑feature launches • Act as the local authority on UL, NEC, CSA, NEMA, and CAN/ENA codes and standards • Develop best‑practice guidelines and a tracking system for plant requests and technical questions • Attend plant staff meetings and report on product‑line engineering activities • Support PROLaunch, sustaining, MOL, and VAVE project launches • Manage change requests, design deviations, and MOL project execution • Participate in plant continuous‑improvement activities and monitor warranty/service trends • Conduct root‑cause analysis of systemic issues and submit UL field‑visit requests • Perform job‑site visits for product concerns and learning opportunities

What You Bring
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, have at least five years of design or engineering experience, reside within 50 miles of the location (with active‑duty military exemption), and be prepared to travel up to ten percent of the time. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or electronics engineering • Possess at least 5 years of design or engineering experience (minimum 2 years with UL 50, UL 67, UL 891 and 1 year with switchboards) • Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication, persuasive, and analytical problem‑solving skills • Proficient in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Enovia, and Microsoft Office suite • Knowledge of product lifecycle management systems and fabrication methods for sheet metal, plastic, copper, and aluminum • Ability to travel up to 10 % of the time • Candidates must reside within a 50‑mile radius of the work location (active‑duty military exempt)
