About the Role

As a Specialised Technician you will support chilled water plants, refrigeration systems and HVAC solutions across a wide range of marine environments. The role requires versatility, adaptability to new technologies and a proactive approach, working on‑shore on large‑scale chillers up to 10,000 kW within plant rooms on Navy and commercial vessels. Key duties include commissioning and testing equipment (including HAT/SAT/CST trials), carrying out routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs and retrofits, supporting factory acceptance trials at the Basildon facility when required, providing technical support and training to project teams and clients, maintaining accurate work records, reporting emergent issues, ensuring safe working practices and delivering excellent customer service. • Commission, test and trial equipment (HAT/SAT/CST) and support factory acceptance trials • Perform routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, retrofits and air‑balancing on chillers up to 10,000 kW • Provide technical support, guidance and training to project teams and clients • Maintain accurate records, report issues promptly and ensure safe working practices • Deliver excellent customer service in marine and naval environments • Work independently, manage workload, multitask and travel to UK and international ports, including occasional weekends

What You Bring

The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding skills, can work independently, manage workload and multitask, and demonstrates excellent communication and a customer‑focused mindset. Experience in Navy or marine environments is beneficial but not essential, as is knowledge of PLC/microprocessor‑based systems, HVAC and air‑balancing. Flexibility to travel to UK and international ports, occasional weekend work, and eligibility for UK BPSS and SC security clearances are required. Preferred qualifications include an apprenticeship or City & Guilds/NVQ/BTEC in refrigeration or HVAC, F‑Gas (C&G 2079) certification, and electrical qualifications (desirable but not essential).
