About the Role

The Quality Technician Shift Lead serves as the primary leader for the Inspectors and Testers team, ensuring that quality processes, verification activities, and compliance requirements are executed consistently and effectively. By bridging frontline quality execution with Quality Engineering, the role provides direction, coaching, daily oversight, and escalation support. This leadership strengthens organizational quality performance through standardized processes and collaborative problem‑solving. Operating on the production floor, the Shift Lead oversees daily quality activities, including decision‑making for nonconforming material and managing escalations. The position also conducts audits, supports continuous‑improvement initiatives, and represents Quality in cross‑functional meetings to communicate defects and trends. Maintaining rigorous inspection standards and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 are central to the role. • Lead, train, and support Inspectors and Testers to ensure consistent adherence to inspection methods and QC standards. • Provide daily decision‑making support for nonconforming material, escalations, and inspection/test outcomes on the production floor. • Represent Quality in Tier 2 meetings, reporting defects, trends, escalations, and action‑item status. • Conduct and oversee process and product audits to ensure compliance with QMS/EQMS/ISO 9001 standards. • Lead containment and verification activities for internal and customer complaints, including quarantine and testing validation. • Support continuous improvement initiatives (Hi5) and apply structured problem‑solving tools such as 5 Whys and Pareto analysis. • Review inspection plans, control plans, pFMEAs, and calibration/tool verification for alignment and compliance. • Maintain quality records, enforce safety and 5S discipline, and provide backup support for Quality Engineers and Leaders.

What You Bring

The role requires a minimum of a high school diploma and at least one year of manufacturing quality experience, with a preference for a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem‑solving abilities, familiarity with quality management systems, and proficiency with standard office and technical software. Applicants must reside within 50 miles of the El Paso, TX facility, as relocation assistance is not provided. • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, or mentoring teams and managing nonconforming material control. • Knowledge of lean tools (VSM, 5S, Standard Work, Pull Systems) and ability to create or improve Standard Work and process controls. • Proficient with PCAT, AS400, Wisper, calibration/testing equipment, and capable of writing technical documentation; IPC‑620 familiarity or certification preferred. • Strong problem‑solving capability using PDCA, 8D, A3, Fishbone, DMAIC, 5 Why, and Pareto analysis.
