About the Role

This is a maintenance laborer/helper/fire watch position (no per diem). The role assists with manual tasks such as moving equipment, digging, retrieving equipment, standing by for fire safety, and other work as instructed by a supervisor or journeyman. Key responsibilities include using fire extinguishers, climbing onto structures and scaffolding, operating rigging and hoisting devices, performing preventative maintenance such as lubrication and part repairs, and following directions from supervisors or journeymen. • Assist with manual tasks such as moving and retrieving equipment, digging, and fire watch duties. • Operate fire extinguishers and stand by for fire safety. • Climb structures, scaffolding, ladders, and work on platforms. • Use rigging and hoisting devices (chokers, chain falls, come‑alongs) to position materials. • Perform preventative maintenance like lubrication and part repairs. • Follow directions from supervisors or journeymen.

What You Bring

The job requires meeting physical demands, experience with industrial hand and power tools, reliable transportation, and the ability to work up to seven days as needed. Preference is given to Zachry employees, former employees, or candidates with basic mechanical knowledge and industrial construction experience. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities encompass basic tool proficiency, problem‑solving, manual dexterity, reading comprehension, teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to Zachry values and safety regulations. Physical requirements involve extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting up to 50 lb, occasional work at heights, vision demands, exposure to weather, long shifts up to 12 hours, and wearing required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, respirator, vest, gloves, steel‑toe boots).
