About the Role

The Field Services team delivers infrastructure projects—including highways, bridges, water‑treatment plants, transit systems, and power facilities—by upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and trust, and by leveraging the expertise of construction managers, inspectors, resident engineers, and field specialists. As a Civil Construction Inspector for Highways & Roads, you will support the Resident Engineer with both field and office engineering tasks such as inspecting non‑structural construction, ensuring traffic‑control compliance, preparing contract change orders, and enforcing storm‑water pollution prevention programs. • Inspect non‑structural highway construction and traffic control systems according to Caltrans standards. • Prepare, review, and analyze contract change orders. • Enforce the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan and related permits. • Review and approve traffic control plans, ensuring lane‑closure compliance. • Conduct field testing, surveying, and equipment usage for roadway projects. • Maintain accurate records, claims files, and documentation of work quantities. • Assist the Resident Engineer with Dispute Review Board and Dispute Resolution Advisor documentation and meetings. • Monitor labor compliance, subcontractor policies, and DBE/DVBE requirements. • Utilize Microsoft Office, Primavera (P3/P6), SureTrak, Scheduler Analyzer Pro, and MS Project for scheduling and reporting.

What You Bring

HDR expects employees to embody its collaborative values, participate in employee‑network groups, follow the drug‑and‑alcohol policy, and note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position. • Demonstrate at least one year of experience reviewing and approving traffic control systems. • Provide a minimum of 3 years of highway/roadway construction inspection experience (2 years preferred) with Caltrans project exposure. • Hold a bachelor's degree (preferred) or a high school diploma with 8 years of relevant experience. • Proficient in MS Office and possess strong problem‑solving and documentation abilities. • Work independently and collaboratively within the employee‑owned culture.
