Job Highlights
About the Role
As a member of Intersect’s Development Engineering team, you will provide civil and structural guidance that turns early concepts into buildable, code‑compliant designs for grid‑scale solar, storage, and compute‑adjacent data‑center sites. You will set design criteria, optimize layouts for land and cost efficiency, and coordinate technical diligence so projects progress from site control through Issued for Construction (IFC) with fewer surprises. The role is an individual contributor position that partners closely with Development, Real Estate, Permitting, Construction, Finance, and external consultants, EPC partners, and general contractors to ensure safe, timely, and cost‑effective delivery. • Define and align civil/structural design criteria with internal teams, hyperscalers, consultants, and authorities. • Provide civil engineering direction for data‑center‑adjacent power facilities and coordinate with A/E consultants and contractors. • Support project development from concept to completion, identifying and mitigating design, budget, and schedule risks. • Translate commercial, permitting, and site constraints into clear engineering guidance and decision‑ready documentation. • Optimize civil site layouts for efficient land use, equipment selection, topography, environmental and permitting constraints. • Balance constructability, cost, and schedule while iterating designs to reduce risk. • Manage site technical diligence, including hydrology, geotechnical, and transportation studies. • Procure boundary/topographic surveys and coordinate crossing/encroachment matrices with utilities and landowners. • Lead engineering consultants and contractors through constraint mapping, design, value engineering, and design reviews. • Ensure designs comply with codes, industry standards, and project specifications with clear documentation. • Coordinate with Wind, PV, BESS, Data Center, and High‑Voltage teams to resolve interface issues. • Assist in obtaining development and construction permits and expedite approvals. • Support value engineering and prepare civil/structural scope and contract exhibits for cost‑effective solutions.
