About the Role
Reporting to the Plant Director, the Production Planner and Yard Supervisor is tasked with planning and coordinating manufacturing activities to meet deadlines and ensure resources are available. The role leads a team of three unionized employees and acts as a bridge between production, procurement, and project-management teams. Key planning duties include developing and maintaining the production schedule, analyzing technical drawings to determine material and labor needs, coordinating with purchasing for raw‑material availability, and monitoring progress to adjust plans when delays occur. The supervisor also optimizes machine and personnel utilization, communicates with internal departments, prepares performance tracking reports, and drives continuous‑improvement initiatives. Personnel management responsibilities involve tracking absenteeism and overtime, approving payroll hours, onboarding and training new hires, applying disciplinary measures in line with collective‑agreement rules, and participating in various operational meetings and safety investigations. The supervisor also ensures accurate year‑end inventory, contributes to master‑planning initiatives, and serves on committees such as CSS and RDP. • Develop and maintain production schedule based on orders, capacity, and priorities. • Analyze plans and technical drawings to determine material, labor, and equipment needs. • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure raw materials and components availability. • Monitor production progress and adjust plans for delays or priority changes. • Optimize resource utilization (machines, personnel) to reduce downtime and improve productivity. • Communicate regularly with internal teams (production, quality, shipping, maintenance, health & safety) to ensure operational consistency. • Prepare tracking reports on performance indicators, deadlines, and utilization rates. • Participate in continuous improvement of planning and production processes. • Manage subcontracting by validating material consumption and compliance in nesting process. • Implement Blue Rush plans and non‑conforming nestings (NCR) on shop floor and in planning. • Schedule truck deliveries in coordination with purchasing and yard operations. • Ensure integration between estimates and shop floor operations. • Collaborate with estimating team to provide customers with optimal lead times. • Design, analyze, and present key performance indicators (KPIs). • Track absenteeism and monitor punctuality, recording in system. • Track and pre‑approve overtime based on operational needs. • Approve hours in system for payroll preparation. • Participate in onboarding and training of new employees per integration plan. • Apply disciplinary measures respecting collective agreement rules. • Participate in operational meetings (health & safety, production, RDP, Gemba, etc.). • Lead/participate in workplace accident investigations with HR and safety teams. • Ensure accuracy of year‑end inventory processes and make necessary corrections. • Contribute to master planning initiatives and committee activities (CSS, RDP, etc.).

What You Bring
The position requires a university degree in Industrial Engineering, Production Management, or a related field, along with 2‑5 years of production‑planning experience—preferably in metal fabrication or steel structures. Candidates must understand steel manufacturing processes, be proficient in Microsoft Office (SAP and Dayforce knowledge is a plus), read technical drawings, demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills, work well both independently and in teams, and be bilingual in English and French. • Hold a university degree in Industrial Engineering, Production Management, or equivalent. • Possess 2–5 years of production planning experience, preferably in metal fabrication or steel structures. • Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes such as welding, cutting, and assembly. • Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of SAP and Dayforce is an asset. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. • Bilingual in spoken and written English and French.
