About the Role

We are hiring a Water Facilities Engineering Construction Manager to support a five‑year, $3.9 billion Capital Improvement Program for Chicago’s Department of Water Management. The role will oversee construction of water purification plants, intake structures, pumping stations, reservoirs, and conveyance tunnels, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with contract documents. The manager will be responsible for schedule, budget, client communication, and financial reporting throughout all project phases. • Serve as Construction Manager overseeing improvements to major water system facilities, including purification plants, intake structures, pumping stations, reservoirs, hydraulic structures, and tunnels. • Manage multidisciplinary construction work covering electrical, mechanical, structural, process, and architectural components. • Oversee commissioning of electrical and mechanical equipment. • Lead project teams and ensure consultants meet contractual commitments. • Hire and coordinate resident engineers and field inspectors from on‑call engineering firms. • Collaborate with the Resident Engineer to verify work conforms to contract documents. • Manage all construction phases from start‑up through close‑out, controlling schedule and budget. • Communicate progress, coordinate with the client, and resolve scope changes and project issues. • Monitor and report financial status and completion metrics to the client. • Perform occasional field work at facilities and supervise engineering and technical staff.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, mechanical engineering or related field with 6+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent). • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Illinois or ability to obtain within six months. • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. • 10‑15+ years progressive experience in water/wastewater facilities engineering and project management. • Experience with municipal Design‑Bid‑Build capital improvement programs and large joint‑venture projects. • Strong interpersonal skills, including client interaction, public speaking, and persuasive communication. • Proven ability to manage project finances and lead multidisciplinary teams.
