About the Role
Mortenson is hiring a Superintendent I to coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities within a specific discipline. The role focuses on developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service. The Superintendent I will ensure that materials, equipment, and inspections align with the project schedule, review construction and contract documents for completeness, and resolve design discrepancies. They will develop project schedules, site logistics plans, and lead the use of Mortenson tools while collaborating with partner superintendents and conducting on‑site orientations and meetings. They will supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews, handling hiring, transfers, and dismissals as needed, and provide coaching and mentorship to assistant superintendents and team members. The role also includes managing task coding, tracking productivity, fostering diverse relationships, and delivering high‑level safety, quality, risk, and compliance oversight. • Plan and implement material, equipment, and inspection schedules to meet project timelines. • Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability. • Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers to resolve discrepancies. • Develop three- and six‑week look‑ahead schedules and site logistics plans. • Lead utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment on‑site. • Conduct project orientations, pre‑construction planning sessions, and site meetings. • Supervise and manage project partners, craft foremen, and crews, including hiring and dismissals. • Coach and mentor assistant superintendents and craft team members. • Ensure accurate task coding of work hours and track craft productivity. • Provide high‑level safety, quality, risk, and compliance management. • Recognize and mitigate unfavorable working conditions and improve processes.

What You Bring
The position requires an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a construction‑related field or ten years of trade experience, plus a minimum of five years in construction management. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, possess intermediate Microsoft Office skills, and be able to travel up to 100% while managing multiple complex projects. • Hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural engineering, or construction management, or have 10 years of trade experience. • Possess at least 5 years of construction management or related experience. • Maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to travel up to 100%. • Demonstrate strong customer service, active listening, and effective communication skills. • Have intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency and basic knowledge of construction law.

Benefits
Base pay ranges from $111,400 to $167,100, with higher ranges for certain locations, and the role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
