About the Role
The Garage Mechanic will report to the Garage Supervisor and perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a range of vehicles and equipment such as aerial devices, digger‑derricks, manlifts, and forklifts. The role may require provincial travel, rotational after‑hours work, participation in regulatory and on‑the‑job training, and strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies, including a pre‑employment alcohol and drug test. • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on fleet vehicles and associated equipment. • Travel throughout Nova Scotia to assist other locations as required. • Participate in regulatory training and on‑the‑job skill‑development programs. • Ensure personal and coworker safety by complying with Occupational Health and Safety regulations. • Maintain environmental performance according to the company's management system. • Engage in community initiatives, mentorship, volunteer programs, and scholarships for employees' children.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold an Inter‑Provincial Red Seal Journeyperson (Truck and Transport) certificate, have at least two years of relevant experience, and possess a valid Class 3 Nova Scotia driver’s licence with a satisfactory abstract. Experience with hydraulics, particularly CUFC or Fluid Power certification, is an asset, and strong mechanical, problem‑solving, teamwork, and computer skills are essential. The position demands physical capabilities such as occasionally lifting 65 lb from floor to waist, pushing or pulling up to 100 lb, frequent standing and walking, and the ability to perform various reaching, bending, and fine‑motor tasks throughout the workday. • Be available for rotational after‑hours work. • Pass a confidential pre‑employment alcohol and drug test in line with Emera policy. • Hold a Red Seal Journeyperson (Truck and Transport) certificate and a valid Class 3 licence with at least two years of driving experience. • Hydraulics experience or CUFC/Fluid Power certification considered an asset. • Demonstrate strong mechanical proficiency and effective problem‑resolution abilities. • Exhibit teamwork, excellent interpersonal communication, and solid computer aptitude. • Lift 65 lb frequently, push/pull up to 100 lb occasionally, and perform regular standing, walking, and reaching tasks.
