About the Role

The Light Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of hand‑held and heavy‑duty mechanical devices on construction or plant‑operations sites. Equipment may include bulldozers, excavators, front‑end loaders, backhoes, forklifts, graders, diggers, drills, generators, saws, and pumps. The operator must understand and follow all safety hazards associated with the tools and equipment used. • Read and interpret load charts • Interpret hand signals to determine material placement • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment • Conduct daily equipment inspections, including fluid checks, refueling, and wear assessment • Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies • Assist other craft workers as needed

What You Bring

The role requires the ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lb on a regular basis and occasionally up to 100 lb. The operator must be able to drive cars, trucks, and forklifts, climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds, and various frameworks, and work in diverse environments such as uneven terrain, mud, loose rock, or confined spaces. Frequent hand‑eye coordination, repetitive arm and leg use, and exposure to adverse weather conditions are also expected. Effective communication with management and supervision is essential, as the operator must read, write, and comprehend directions and safety policies. The job demands concentration amid distractions, decision‑making skills, and a detail‑oriented mindset to observe and remember critical information. The operator must adapt to varying work tempos and maintain focus throughout.
