About the Role

Reporting to the Preconstruction Manager/MEP Manager, the estimator prepares detailed cost estimates for Electrical, Technology, and Low‑Voltage system trades using design documents, narratives, and specifications. The role involves close collaboration with project staff, architects, engineers, owners, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate scopes of work. • Lead estimating for complex Mission Critical, Market Segment, and Government projects with MEP contract values exceeding $25M. • Prepare comprehensive quantity take‑offs, analyses, and estimates for Electrical, Technology, and Low‑Voltage items from concept through construction documents. • Analyze site conditions and contract documents to identify required scopes not indicated in the plans. • Develop relationships with local material suppliers and equipment vendors to obtain accurate pricing for lighting, distribution, and low‑voltage systems. • Maintain an active list of qualified Electrical, Technology, and Low‑Voltage trade partners for bidding purposes. • Perform constructability reviews and communicate design issues to project teams and stakeholders. • Provide first‑cost and life‑cycle cost analyses in collaboration with design teams. • Participate in decision‑making with Operations and Procurement to select MEP trade partners for project pursuits. • Lead regional MEP strategic initiatives and special projects, contributing subject‑matter expertise. • Assist in developing and delivering MEP training programs. • Integrate MEP Operations staff during pre‑construction and serve as a resource through construction phases. • Coordinate general conditions and requirements items, including temporary heating/cooling, power, and lighting consumption estimates. • Work with SourceBlue to price equipment for Electrical, Technology, and Low‑Voltage estimates. • Conduct value analysis to propose cost‑efficient alternatives for materials and equipment. • Serve as liaison with engineers, design consultants, trade partners, and owners to resolve pre‑construction system issues. • Prepare and assemble estimates and proposals for lump‑sum, GMP, and Cost‑Plus contract types. • Participate in estimate reviews with design teams and clients and ensure smooth hand‑off to Operations. • Author scope requisitions for bidding and coordinate with fellow estimators to eliminate scope gaps. • Evaluate subcontractor proposals for scope coverage and manage identified risks. • Leverage vendor and trade‑partner relationships to enhance client service.

What You Bring

The position combines office‑based and occasional on‑site activities, requiring the ability to lift up to 15 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, as well as travel to construction sites as needed. Work is performed in a quiet to moderate office environment or remotely, with adherence to company safety policies and applicable regulations. • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field; minimum 8 years of Electrical/Technology/Low‑Voltage estimating experience. • Extensive knowledge of Electrical, Technology, and Low‑Voltage systems and ability to formulate advanced cost scenarios. • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline‑driven environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for confident presentations. • Proficient with Microsoft Office and related computer applications. • Supervisory experience preferred, including delegation, performance monitoring, and feedback delivery.
