About the Role
The chief engineer will oversee general management of the team, promote safety and open dialogue, and mentor staff to meet project objectives. They will handle resource planning, balance workloads, coordinate hiring, and provide the tools and training needed for successful execution. Career development, quality assurance, and support for proposals and budgeting are also key parts of the position. • Lead and supervise the process engineering team, fostering safety culture and open communication. • Mentor team members, approve timesheets, and conduct performance reviews. • Plan and allocate resources, adjust workloads, and coordinate hiring to meet project demands. • Ensure compliance with AECOM QA/QC standards, conduct detailed checks, and implement corrective actions. • Develop execution plans, scopes of work, and budget estimates to support business development proposals.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a BA/BS and possess at least ten years of relevant engineering experience in industrial, refinery, or power facilities. Preferred qualifications include five years of supervisory experience, a PE license, extensive work on refinery or NGL projects, proficiency with engineering analysis software, HAZOP experience, and a track record in EPC and international work‑share projects. • Minimum requirement: BA/BS plus 10 years of industrial/refinery/power engineering experience. • Preferred: 5 + years supervisory experience, PE license, 7 + years as technical lead on refinery/NGL projects, and expertise with Aspen/HYSYS, HAZOP, EPC, and international work‑share projects.

Benefits
The position is based in Houston, Texas, offers a hybrid work model, and provides a compensation range of $190,000‑$235,000 plus AECOM’s comprehensive benefits package.
