About the Role

The intern will support safety and loss‑control activities on construction projects and office locations, assisting with the Building L.I.F.E. program, safety inspections, documentation, and coordination of safety committees and training. The role involves reporting violations, reviewing subcontractor safety plans, and maintaining safety records. • Implement Building L.I.F.E. (Living Injury Free Everyday) and project safety programs. • Identify and report safety violations, especially imminent dangers to life or property. • Coordinate safety committees, pre‑planning meetings, and toolbox meetings. • Support safety training, toolbox meetings, and new‑employee orientations. • Review subcontractor safety programs for completeness and regulatory compliance. • Promote safe work practices in line with company, federal, state, local, and contractual requirements. • Administer drug‑screening program (pre‑employment, post‑accident, random, cause). • Participate in pre‑construction meetings, conduct research, and document meeting outcomes. • Conduct jobsite and work‑area inspections and prepare inspection summaries. • Maintain safety records such as pre‑task plans, JHAs, training logs, OSHA 300 log, MSDS, and incident investigations. • Facilitate effective worker orientation programs and track participation.

What You Bring

Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related degree program with at least one year of coursework, and possess basic safety and environmental knowledge. Strong communication, detail orientation, computer proficiency, and the ability to work both independently and in a team are required, along with flexibility for standard hours, possible overtime, and limited travel. • Enrolled in an accredited Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related degree program with at least one year of coursework. • Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles and techniques. • Demonstrated interpersonal skills through leadership, volunteerism, or community involvement. • Professional verbal and written communication abilities. • Personal and professional accountability, proactive attitude, and eagerness to learn. • Ability to work independently with direction and in a team environment. • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills. • Quick learner who can follow tasks through to completion. • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and data‑entry tools. • Limited travel may be required; reliable transportation is required.

Benefits
