About the Role

The Senior Associate Engineer for NPE Observability will be a key contributor to Equinix’s global telemetry platform, building and optimizing pipelines that collect and process data from the worldwide network. This role bridges software development and network engineering, emphasizing clean code, distributed systems, and the inner workings of large‑scale service provider networks. In this position, you will develop scalable, automated telemetry infrastructure, integrate industry‑standard CI/CD tools, and continuously improve pipeline performance. You will also support incident response, define SLA metrics, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and drive research into new observability technologies that shape future engineering practices. • Develop and maintain scalable, automated telemetry infrastructure code following clean‑code standards. • Integrate CI/CD and automation tools to enhance operational excellence. • Identify pipeline bottlenecks and implement automated performance improvements. • Serve as technical point of contact for incident response and root‑cause analysis. • Define SLA metrics and ensure deployments remain ITIL compliant. • Collaborate with internal teams to address telemetry and monitoring requirements. • Research and evaluate new observability tools to guide future engineering practices. • Stay current with observability and AIOps trends, contributing relevant features. • Apply SOLID principles and design patterns in Java or Go. • Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes, Jenkins, and ArgoCD.

What You Bring

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of software engineering experience, including 1–2 years within an enterprise or service‑provider networking environment, and hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A strong grasp of SOLID principles, Java or Go, major vendor YANG models, and networking protocols such as BGP, IS‑IS, MPLS, QoS, EVPN, and VXLAN is required, along with expertise in SQL, Kafka or Flink, Prometheus, Grafana, the ELK Stack, and Kubernetes‑based deployments. Joining the NPE Observability team places you at the forefront of network automation, giving you hands‑on mastery of modern observability stacks—from Kubernetes and Prometheus to ClickHouse and cutting‑edge front‑end frameworks—while your code directly impacts the reliability of a global fabric. • 3–5 years of software engineering experience, including 1–2 years in enterprise/service‑provider networking. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. • Work with Cisco, Arista, or Juniper YANG models and protocols such as BGP, IS‑IS, MPLS, QoS, EVPN, VXLAN. • Proficient in SQL; experience with Kafka or Flink; hands‑on with Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack. • Nice to have: experience with Thanos or scripting in Python/Puppet.

The targeted base salary for this role ranges from $109,000 to $163,000 in the United States, with additional compensation possible through bonuses and equity, depending on the position and individual qualifications.
