About the Role
The role involves assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand and power tools; completing physical installations of structured cabling components, cabinets, and pathway systems; and performing installation and service of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, and communication equipment. Technicians must document work in written and electronic formats, test electrical systems and continuity, interpret plans and drawings, organize tools and supplies, conduct preventive maintenance, and maintain a safe work environment while complying with codes. • Assemble, install, test, and maintain low‑voltage wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand and power tools. • Perform physical installations of structured‑cabling components, cabinets, and cable‑tray pathway systems. • Install and service category and fiber‑optic cabling, communication equipment, and related low‑voltage systems. • Complete documentation (time reporting, labor productivity, material QC) in written and electronic formats. • Test electrical systems and circuit continuity using appropriate testing equipment. • Read and interpret plans, drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and work orders to determine requirements. • Organize work by gathering tools, supplies, and reviewing work orders. • Conduct preventive maintenance and system testing on low‑voltage electrical systems. • Maintain a safe work environment by following standards, procedures, and code compliance. • Order and manage supplies as needed.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking a Structured Cabling Technician who will provide skilled craftsmanship for maintenance and installation of low voltage electrical systems. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of related experience, relevant certifications (CNET CNCI, BICSI Installer, trade school certificate), a valid driver’s license, and the ability to read plans and operate various equipment. Additional skills such as teamwork, communication, emotional intelligence, and the physical ability to lift up to 50 lb are also needed. The position requires travel (90‑100 %) and weekend work, and may involve lifting with assistance. Visa sponsorship is not available, and candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. • High school diploma or GED; trade or technical school certification preferred. • Minimum two years of related experience; data‑center construction experience a plus. • Certifications: CNET CNCI, BICSI Installer (INST 1), BICSI Installer 2 copper/fiber (INSTC/INSTF), apprentice aptitude test. • Valid driver’s license and ability to read plans and operate equipment (saws, sanders, drill presses, fall protection, rigging). • Ability to speak and understand English; Spanish a plus. • Strong teamwork, positive attitude, professional customer service, detail orientation, active listening, and effective communication. • Physical ability to perform repetitive motions and lift/push/pull up to 50 lb (with assistance for >50 lb). • Availability to work weekends and travel up to 90‑100 %.
