What You Bring

The Carpenter Apprentice will be enrolled in a 2‑year program and will be trained under capable journey workers in constructing, erecting, stripping, and repairing steel, wood, or plywood structures using hand and power tools in accordance with construction documents. The position includes exposure to various duties and participation in classroom and supplemental training. • 144 classroom hours per year • Vertical formwork training on site‑specific forms • Approved career‑related training • 10‑hour OSHA certification • 4‑hour IIF Workshop • Rigging training • Anti‑Harassment training • First Aid / CPR / Bloodborne Pathogen certification • High School diploma or GED (preferred) • Minimum of one year of related experience or training (preferred) • Own transportation required • Ability to communicate with co‑workers • Ability to travel to jobs between Miami and Fort Lauderdale • Conversational English (preferred) • Familiarity with common construction terms (preferred) • Ability to calculate addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division • Ability to apply fractions, percentages, and proportions • Must attend weekly apprenticeship classroom • Ability to read and use a tape measure with math skills • Ability to use an iPad for program curriculum • Ability to handle objects up to 50 pounds • Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, climb or crawl • Ability to work at heights • Exposure to outdoor weather, dust, fumes, and loud noises
