What You Bring
Downer’s Energy & Utilities business is seeking an experienced Delivery Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of projects within the Water line of business, specifically supporting our National Projects team (Downer Pipe Tech). In this role you will have full accountability for the safe, commercial and efficient management of multiple contracts from pre‑contract involvement through to delivery and close‑out, acting as the primary point of contact for commercial, contractual and project performance matters. You will shape successful outcomes through strong leadership, robust stakeholder engagement and adherence to The Downer Standard and Delivery Manager Methodology. • Minimum 10 years’ experience in project and/or contract management, with strong delivery experience across construction or water infrastructure. • Demonstrated capability in leading project managers, engineers, and multi‑disciplinary teams toward high performance. • Strong commercial acumen with proven ability to interpret tender scopes, develop pricing, and manage commercial and contractual risk. • Experience in pipeline construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance, with sound knowledge of relevant technologies and methodologies. • Understanding of Australian construction markets and contract forms, including negotiation of contract terms. • Experience working collaboratively in client‑focused, relationship‑driven environments. • Influential leader with excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills. • Ability to drive commercial outcomes, identify risk and opportunity, and coach project teams to uplift contract and commercial capability. • Highly organised, autonomous and adaptable, with strong strategic thinking and problem‑solving capability. • Demonstrated commitment to Downer’s values, Zero Harm culture and continuous improvement. • Tertiary qualification in engineering or a related discipline. • Additional qualifications in business, finance or commerce highly regarded. • Senior leadership role with opportunity to influence major water and pipeline infrastructure projects nationally.
