About the Role

The Senior ITS/Traffic Engineer role in New Jersey will lead innovative transportation solutions, producing design calculations, technical reports, and specifications for complex projects. Working closely with project managers, the engineer will design, implement, and manage advanced traffic engineering and ITS systems that enhance mobility, safety, and efficiency. • Lead planning, design, and deployment of ITS, traffic signal systems, and connected vehicle technologies. • Conduct traffic engineering studies such as signal optimization, corridor analysis, and congestion management. • Design traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, and intersection improvements per NJTA, NJDOT, and MUTCD standards. • Oversee integration of ITS hardware/software, traffic management centers, and emerging technologies. • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates for complex transportation projects. • Collaborate with NJDOT, NJTA, MPOs, and local municipalities on statewide and regional initiatives. • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance. • Ensure compliance with MUTCD, NTCIP, AASHTO, and other applicable regulations.

What You Bring

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in civil/electrical engineering and 6+ years of traffic modeling, signal design, and engineering experience. • Proficient in Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, and CAD/MicroStation. • Valid US driver's license. • Preferred: 8+ years in traffic engineering/ITS, NJ PE license (PTOE a plus), advanced MicroStation skills. • Experience developing traffic control and detour plans and transportation management strategies. • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
