About the Role
The Lead Field Engineer role is crucial to Carrier’s business by commissioning building‑automation systems tailored to each customer. The position requires strong teamwork, time‑management, organization, communication, technical, and troubleshooting abilities. As a technical and product expert, the engineer solves highly complex problems, leads training for less‑experienced field engineers, and serves as the primary field contact. Key responsibilities include initiating, installing, troubleshooting, and optimizing Direct Digital Control systems, mentoring field engineers, and acting as the local technical point of contact. The engineer delivers turnkey projects on medium to large scales, ensures proper operation of controls, sensors, and software, loads software, configures trends, alarms, and reports, and provides site‑specific training to owners and operators. Effective time‑management and clear communication of project status are essential for customer satisfaction. • Install, troubleshoot, and optimize building automation systems using Direct Digital Control technology. • Mentor and train less experienced Field Engineers on tools, technology, and field practices. • Serve as the local technical point of contact, providing solutions for complex system issues. • Deliver turnkey projects on medium to large scale, ensuring proper operation of controls, sensors, and software. • Load software, configure trends, alarms, and reports, and conduct site‑specific training for owners/operators. • Manage time and communicate project status to ensure customer satisfaction.

What You Bring
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least four years of experience in building automation, HVAC, or a related technical field, along with the ability to climb ladders over eight feet, lift up to 50 lb, and hold a valid, insurable driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s or associate degree or technical certificate in HVAC, controls, or a similar discipline, proficiency with advanced automation software such as WebCTRL, and solid knowledge of TCP/IP and wireless networks. Strong communication skills, teamwork, and proficiency with Microsoft 365 are also valued. • High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of experience in building automation, HVAC, or related technical field. • Ability to climb ladders >8 ft, lift up to 50 lb, and hold a valid, insurable driver’s license. • Preferred: Bachelor’s/Associate degree or technical certificate in HVAC, controls, or related field. • Proficiency with advanced building automation software (e.g., WebCTRL) and TCP/IP/Wi‑Fi networks. • Strong communication skills to explain technical information to non‑technical audiences and work effectively in teams. • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications.
