Job Highlights
About the Role
Drivers at WM operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers that can exceed 1,000 lb. Depending on the line of business, drivers perform commercial pick‑up, residential collection, or roll‑off services, navigating high‑traffic roads, alleys, driveways and performing skilled backing maneuvers. All drivers must operate vehicles in compliance with WM safety rules, OSHA and DOT regulations, complete pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and DVIR reports, report unsafe conditions, incidents or service interruptions, and communicate customer requests to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. They also follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and assist fellow drivers as needed. • Operate heavy‑duty trucks with appropriate lift attachments to transport waste and recyclable containers. • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR documentation. • Follow WM Safety, OSHA, and DOT regulations; report unsafe conditions immediately. • Communicate incidents, route issues, and customer requests to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Execute assigned routes, dump receptacles, keep sites clean, and complete end‑of‑day paperwork. • Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer service needs.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include at least one year of CDL‑class A or B driving experience (or equivalent military driving within the past seven years), a minimum age of 18, legal work eligibility, and an air‑brake endorsement. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role involves physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, and sitting, with reasonable accommodations provided as needed. Candidates must possess or be willing to obtain a REAL ID or TSA‑approved alternative for travel and access to federal property. • Required: 1 year of CDL Class A or B driving (or recent military driving), age 18+, legal work eligibility, air‑brake endorsement. • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
