About the Role
The Operator – Heavy Equipment is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment at recycling centers, landfills, or transfer stations to transfer, spread, cover, load, and compact waste or soil efficiently. This role ensures that all equipment is used in a manner that protects both personnel and the environment. Key duties include performing thorough pre‑ and post‑operation inspections, continuously monitoring waste for unacceptable materials, and keeping equipment in ready condition by cleaning tracks or wheels. The operator also conducts minor servicing, documents equipment condition, reports any needed repairs, and completes required condition reports. Maintaining a clean and organized shop at the end of each shift and carrying out any additional assigned tasks are also essential. • Conduct pre‑ and post‑operation equipment inspections per company policy. • Safely operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and loaders. • Monitor waste streams for unacceptable materials and equipment condition continuously. • Perform minor equipment servicing and clean tracks or wheels as needed. • Document equipment condition, report repairs, and complete required reports. • Keep the shop clean, serviced, and properly stored each shift. • Provide courteous, professional customer service and act with honesty. • Follow through on work schedules and resolve challenges promptly. • Adhere to all company policies, safety standards, and avoid undue risk.

What You Bring
Successful candidates demonstrate strong customer service skills, professionalism, time management, and the ability to follow through on challenges. They must adhere to all company policies and safety standards, act with honesty, and take pride in their work. The position requires at least two years of heavy‑equipment operation experience and one year on OSHA‑regulated sites. • Manage time effectively to complete tasks safely and efficiently. • Minimum two years experience operating heavy equipment. • At least one year experience working at OSHA‑regulated sites.
