About the Role
The Superintendent 3 plans, manages, and executes all aspects of moderately complex projects, overseeing teams, construction sequencing, and project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion while supporting JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. • Leads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and creates awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury‑free environment through individual actions and mentoring others. • Investigates safety incidents and retrains staff as needed. • Provides management of subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow. • Manages and oversees company staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for a small project or a major portion of a larger project. • Develops work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work. • Coordinates and manages the care, custody and control of the project site. • Leads various meetings including daily standup and weekly trade meetings. • Attends, manages and participates in appropriate progress and/or project OAC meetings. • Creates, manages, changes and implements the project’s schedule as needed, in conjunction with the Project Manager. • May be responsible for tracking and monitoring project budget and costs using the project management system’s cost reports and data from the project manager. • Communicates key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers and other departments. • Follows the project filing and documentation organization system as dictated for the project; updates drawings, logs, diaries and inspection notebooks. • Approves and/or records unit cost information for weekly reports and completes daily reports, logs and tracking reports. • Evaluates progress on self‑perform work and makes adjustments as needed. • Manages material and equipment needs for the project. • Supports the MOC (Material and Other Costs) and DLSC (Dunn Logistics Service Center) procurement and approval processes. • Assists in the selection of formwork, tools and equipment necessary to complete self‑perform operations. • Manages timecard approval process to ensure accurate hours and proper cost codes. • Ensures quality compliance through specifications, setting quality standards, in‑house QA/QC and outside resources. • Supports project closeouts by supervising pre‑punch activities and coordinating with the owner, architect and governing authorities. • Participates with field operations leadership and the project team to develop a project pre‑plan; implements, monitors and adjusts throughout the project lifecycle. • Partners with field leadership to establish field staffing for the assigned project. • Partners with project management to identify schedule and cost impacts of project changes. • Participates in negotiations with the owner and architect to gain agreement for project changes. • Prepares and presents for all project review meetings, including monthly reviews and other key meetings. • Participates in project buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors. • Responsible for identifying and recruiting top talent. • Leads, supports and promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion; ensures proactive implementation of JE Dunn’s non‑discrimination policy. • Manages moderately complex stand‑alone projects from start to finish. • Manages projects with multiple field supervisors. • May play a lead role in the project pursuit process. • Collaborates with the marketing team on presentations and marketing activities. • Develops new business opportunities and cultivates long‑term client relationships to generate future work. • Assumes responsibility for management, scheduling, production, safety and quality on the project or its portion. • Manages deliverables from internal resources such as IPS, logistics, etc. • Conducts effective presentations (intermediate). • Builds relationships with team members that transcend a project. • Manages budgets, maximizes profitability and generates future work through relationships (intermediate). • Builds relationships and collaborates within a team, internally and externally. • Provides reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.

What You Bring
Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED (a bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering is preferred), 8+ years of commercial construction experience, 5+ years of field supervision, and a proven track record on large‑scale projects valued at $50M+. Strong communication, leadership, Lean principles, and the ability to manage budgets, risks, and relationships are essential. • Gains understanding of the project pursuit process and methodology. • Understands and applies terms and conditions of owner and subcontractor contracts for the project. • Identifies, understands and actively manages project risks. • Utilizes experience to identify problems and recommends solutions for team review and implementation. • Performs work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner. • Communicates verbally and in writing at an intermediate level. • Proficient in MS Office (intermediate). • Applies fundamentals of construction management means and methods to projects. • Understands project processes and how each supports successful completion. • Uses project management and accounting software (intermediate). • Uses required JE Dunn construction technology (intermediate). • Uses scheduling software (intermediate). • Applies Lean process and philosophy (intermediate). • Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work (intermediate). • Knowledge of self‑perform and labor productivity (intermediate). • Understands organizational structure and available resources. • Advanced layout skills. • Advanced crane flagging and rigging knowledge. • Understands document changes and impact to the project schedule. • High School Diploma or GED required. • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred. • 8+ years commercial construction experience. • 5+ years field supervision experience. • Experience with Lean principles. • Demonstrated success leading multiple large or complex commercial construction projects and/or multiple project teams. • Proven track record leading large‑scale projects valued at $50M+. • Valid unrestricted driver’s license required. • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds. • May require periods of travel and/or relocation. • Willingness to work non‑traditional hours to meet project needs. • Frequent activities: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling. • Occasional activities: sitting, viewing computer screen.
