Business R&D Senior Professional
Functional testing and automation of AC protection for HVDC stations
Job Highlights
About the Role
You will be responsible for functional type testing of AC protection functions for HVDC stations according to IEC standards, using secondary injection kits and real‑time simulation environments, and obtaining certifications from external laboratories. The role also includes developing automated and virtual unit test solutions for these protection functions and supporting projects in resolving related issues. Additional responsibilities involve conducting pre‑studies for proposed control and protection concepts with EMT tools, suggesting improvements, supporting global R&D projects through hardware‑in‑loop verification, and setting up and maintaining laboratory environments for HVDC R&D. You will also develop full‑cycle control and protection solutions for future HVDC technologies and create test cases in virtual environments. • Perform functional testing of AC protection functions for HVDC stations per IEC standards. • Develop automated test solutions and virtual unit testing for HVDC protection functions. • Support projects in diagnosing and resolving protection function issues. • Conduct pre‑studies using EMT tools to evaluate control and protection concepts. • Implement and verify latest technology in global R&D projects using hardware‑in‑loop. • Set up and maintain lab environments for HVDC research and development. • Design full‑cycle control and protection solutions for future HVDC technologies. • Create test cases with EMT tools for virtual testing of HVDC control and protection. • Utilize secondary test kits (Omicron, Doble) and simulation software (PSCAD, MATLAB, RTDS, HyperSim). • Automate protection test cases using scripting to improve efficiency.
