About the Role

The Legal Counsel role is based in Melbourne or Adelaide and will focus on the Convenience & Mobility (Retail) segment. The successful candidate will partner with business stakeholders to provide expert legal advice, manage risk and ensure compliance across commercial transactions and strategic initiatives. This position reports to senior management and works closely with internal teams and external counsel. • Advise on contract interpretation, risk management, and regulatory compliance for retail operations. • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements. • Provide legal guidance for advertising, marketing campaigns and customer competitions. • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align legal support with business objectives and mitigate risks. • Deliver strategic legal advice to senior management and other departments. • Monitor legal developments and ensure organisational compliance. • Develop and implement legal policies and procedures. • Manage relationships with external counsel and third‑party advisors.

What You Bring

• Hold an LLB or equivalent and an Australian practising certificate. • Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in commercial/corporate law, preferably in convenience retail or energy. • Deep knowledge of Australian Consumer Law; competition law experience is a plus. • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. • High integrity, professionalism and attention to detail. • Demonstrated strategic thinking, negotiation, legal research and adaptability. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing workloads and projects.
