About the Role

The role includes proper product storage, equipment maintenance, and participation in delivery operations, such as accurately tracking product movement, building loads, and assisting with safe unloading and stocking of various building materials. The Yard Associate reports directly to the Yard Manager. • Greet customers or professional contractors in a friendly manner upon entry into the yard or Home Retail Center. • Load materials into customers' vehicles or onto company delivery vehicles after validating type and quantity using the point‑of‑sale system. • Unload incoming freight carefully to avoid damaging goods or carrier equipment. • Operate forklift to merchandise and stock the yard and warehouse. • Accurately build loads and prepare materials for delivery. • Assist truck drivers in delivering merchandise to homeowners and job sites using company equipment. • Respond to customer inquiries regarding product selection, orders, pricing, quotations, delivery scheduling, installations, and provide follow‑ups as needed. • Maintain inventory, product displays, and pricing labels by stocking, facing, straightening, cleaning, and ensuring organized, safe storage. • Follow and enforce all safety rules and policies communicated by management. • Follow safety expectations set by company policies for storage, handling, and transport of materials. • Maintain regular, reliable, and dependable attendance. • Provide professional customer service and work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.

What You Bring

• Forklift experience preferred; training provided for the right candidate. • Knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and the construction industry is desired but not required. • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills when dealing with vendors, customers, management, and team members. • Apply common‑sense understanding and carry out simple one‑ or two‑step instructions. • High school diploma or GED required. • One year of related work experience preferred. • Possess an acceptable driving record and a valid state driver’s license (Class E required for Missouri locations). • Highly organized with strong attention to detail. • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. • Subject to pre‑employment drug testing, background check, and driver history checks per federal and state law. • Position requires sitting, standing, bending, and walking most of the day. • Physical demands include bending, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and frequently lifting or moving 50‑100 pounds. • Must be able to work and tolerate adverse weather conditions.
