About the Role
In this consultancy‑focused position the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering infrastructure projects and programmes across the North of England and Scotland, working closely with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure projects meet schedule, budget and quality expectations while supporting sustainability goals. • Lead end‑to‑end delivery of construction infrastructure projects and programmes for defence clients across the North of the UK. • Manage and control commercial aspects, including monthly budgeting, forecasting and budget oversight. • Oversee project schedules and coordinate complex programme elements to meet time, cost and quality targets. • Develop and maintain key client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and supporting net‑zero transition initiatives. • Produce and maintain project plans using Primavera or Microsoft Project and administer NEC (or equivalent) contracts. • Ensure compliance with MoD Security Clearance requirements (sole UK national able to obtain and maintain SC).

What You Bring
The company is expanding its Defence North team, which operates from a central office in Manchester and satellite locations such as Nottingham, Leeds, Barrow and Glasgow. The role requires a Project Manager with a defence, nuclear, infrastructure or construction background, and candidates must be a sole UK national capable of obtaining UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). The minimum qualifications include a university degree in a relevant field, a professional project management certification (APM, PMI or PRINCE2), and proven experience in administering NEC or similar contracts. Proficiency with project planning tools such as Primavera or Microsoft Project is also required. Desirable experience encompasses prior work with UK Government or Tier 1 organisations, NEC PMA accreditation, use of contract management software like CEMAR, and familiarity with regulated construction environments such as RIBA stages. Membership of a chartered institute and experience in bid management or coaching junior staff are valued. • Hold a relevant degree and professional certification (APM, PMI or PRINCE2) with demonstrable NEC contract experience. • Desired experience includes working with UK Government/Tier 1 organisations, NEC PMA accreditation, CEMAR, and RIBA‑stage infrastructure projects. • Ability to mentor junior project managers and contribute to bid management processes. • Expected to spend ~60 % of time on client sites or Turner & Townsend offices, with flexible travel as required.
