About the Role
The Principal actively mentors junior staff and Associate Principals, supporting the overall development of the team. Responsibilities include attending project meetings, providing technical and administrative solutions, marketing services, and maintaining the client database. They oversee project budgets, review change orders and invoices, and assist with collections efforts. Training and supervision of subordinate staff, strong task prioritization, and meeting project deadlines are essential, as is overseeing environmental projects and assisting junior staff with issue resolution. The role includes reviewing and approving proposals, change orders, and environmental reports, performing deliverable reviews per ECS policy, and hosting client discussions to address report questions. They also manage asbestos, lead‑based paint, mold, and indoor‑air quality assessments while ensuring QA/QC compliance and proper project close‑out. • Mentor junior staff and Associate Principals; develop team skills. • Attend project meetings and resolve technical/administrative issues. • Market services and maintain client database. • Oversee project budgets, change orders, and invoices; support collections. • Prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines. • Supervise environmental projects and assist junior staff with issue resolution. • Review and approve proposals, change orders, and environmental reports. • Conduct deliverable reviews per ECS Principal policy. • Lead client discussions, address report questions, and provide findings. • Manage asbestos, lead‑based paint, mold, and indoor‑air quality assessments. • Ensure QA/QC compliance and proper project close‑out. • Communicate field work directives to subcontractors and technicians. • Handle multiple projects simultaneously.

What You Bring
Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking an experienced Environmental Principal to ensure overall goals related to quality and performance are achieved. The role delegates to senior staff, stepping in where most useful, and serves as the problem solver and final reviewer for projects. The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive customer service attitude and embodies ECS Core Values. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering, or related fields, with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience (16+ years can substitute for education). Candidates must hold at least one professional license (e.g., PE, PG, REM) and have prior Principal designation, along with extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and test methods. • Hold B.S./M.S. in civil, environmental engineering or related field. • Minimum 12 years (or 16+ years in lieu of education) of relevant experience. • Licensed professional (PE, PG, REM, CIH, CHMM, etc.) and prior principal designation. • Expertise in environmental regulations, permitting, and test methods. • Strong client management and business development abilities. • Demonstrated technical excellence, leadership, and commitment to professional growth.
