About the Role

The Principal actively mentors junior staff and Associate Principals, supporting the overall development of the team. Responsibilities include attending project meetings, providing technical and administrative solutions, marketing services, and maintaining the client database. They oversee project budgets, review change orders and invoices, and assist with collections efforts. Training and supervision of subordinate staff, strong task prioritization, and meeting project deadlines are essential, as is overseeing environmental projects and assisting junior staff with issue resolution. The role includes reviewing and approving proposals, change orders, and environmental reports, performing deliverable reviews per ECS policy, and hosting client discussions to address report questions. What You Bring

Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking an experienced Environmental Principal to ensure overall goals related to quality and performance are achieved. The role delegates to senior staff, stepping in where most useful, and serves as the problem solver and final reviewer for projects. The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive customer service attitude and embodies ECS Core Values. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering, or related fields, with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience (16+ years can substitute for education). Candidates must hold at least one professional license (e.g., PE, PG, REM) and have prior Principal designation, along with extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and test methods. • Hold B.S./M.S. in civil, environmental engineering or related field. • Minimum 12 years (or 16+ years in lieu of education) of relevant experience. • Licensed professional (PE, PG, REM, CIH, CHMM, etc.) and prior principal designation. • Expertise in environmental regulations, permitting, and test methods. • Strong client management and business development abilities. • Demonstrated technical excellence, leadership, and commitment to professional growth.
