About the Role

• Implement Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program and develop site‑specific safety plans for multiple or single project sites. • Oversee and lead the Zero Injury Safety Program implementation across projects. • Assist the group safety director with region‑level safety and health initiatives. • Design, coordinate, and deliver project safety orientations and training programs. • Coach engineers and conduct train‑the‑trainer sessions on safety practices. • Collect loss‑control data, analyze trends, and support creation of improvement action plans. • Record, monitor, and analyze leading and lagging safety, injury, and hazard metrics. • Manage incident reporting, investigation, and root‑cause analysis. • Lead injury and case management, including return‑to‑work and modified‑duty assignments. • Review safety submittals and participate in pre‑construction meetings with subcontractors. • Monitor trade partner work plans for safety concerns and provide guidance. • Mentor and coach safety engineers, delegating tasks to foster development. • Serve as technical resource for project teams and onsite safety engineers. • Evaluate and recommend solutions for industrial‑hygiene issues. • Maintain current knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and other construction safety standards. • Act as a safety resource for all project team members and lead safety meetings. • Accompany safety, health, insurance, and OSHA personnel on site tours. • Build collaborative relationships with diverse personnel at all organizational levels.

Mortenson is seeking a passionate Senior Safety Engineer II who can support leadership, interact with staff at all levels, and maintain flexibility, resourcefulness, proactivity, and professionalism in a dynamic environment. The role is responsible for implementing Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors. Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Job postings typically remain open for a minimum of 5 days and an average of 44 days. • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field (or high school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500 and ≥10 years construction experience, including ≥6 years safety leadership). • Minimum five years of construction safety experience. • Strong detail orientation to manage multiple project tasks. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety‑related software. • Positive professional attitude and strong customer‑service skills. • Ability to interpret, communicate, and apply Mortenson policies. • Experience coaching and mentoring safety management skills. • Excellent active‑listening and communication abilities, open to diverse feedback. • Ability to travel up to 100% and hold a valid driver’s license.

The position offers a base pay range of $103,033‑$129,313, with higher ranges for certain locations, and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
