About the Role
The Streets team within AECOM’s Transportation Business Line is expanding in Birmingham to meet growing demand for active‑travel, bus‑priority, highway improvement and infrastructure projects. The role is for an engineer who will provide design and technical input from concept through detailed design and implementation, manage technical outputs, mentor early‑career staff and ensure delivery of high‑quality, sustainable transport solutions. • Design and deliver Roads, Traffic Engineering, Active Travel, and Urban Realm schemes. • Produce technical outputs such as drawings, reports, and specifications. • Ensure designs comply with project briefs, standards and regulatory requirements. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal teams and external stakeholders. • Delegate tasks and support the development of graduates and technicians. • Champion Health & Safety best practices, including CDM responsibilities. • Report progress and risks regularly to the Project Manager.

What You Bring
Candidates should hold a relevant engineering degree, be working towards Incorporated or Chartered status (or have equivalent experience), and possess strong experience in roads, active travel and traffic engineering design. Familiarity with design standards such as TSRGD, Manual for Streets, DMRB, MCHW, LTN 1/20 and CDM regulations, as well as health‑and‑safety knowledge, is essential. • Proven experience in scoping, preliminary and detailed design of Roads, Active Travel and Traffic Engineering schemes. • Experience delivering infrastructure for walking, cycling, bus priority and traffic calming. • Strong knowledge of drainage, junctions and carriageway improvements. • Familiarity with design standards (TSRGD, Manual for Streets, DMRB, MCHW, LTN 1/20) and CDM Regulations. • Understanding of Health & Safety and CDM regulations.
