About the Role

Under minimal supervision, you will conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of building control systems, ensuring high customer satisfaction. You will mentor control, service, and mechanical technicians, complete project documentation, and act as a trusted advisor providing solutions to building inefficiencies. Your duties include diagnosing and repairing complex control system malfunctions, consulting with customers, preparing field proposals for retrofits and upgrades, assisting sales with technical recommendations, managing work schedules, reporting issues, and coordinating with managers, subcontractors, and engineers. You will also provide on‑site training, deliver manuals, ensure safety compliance, mentor for certifications, and maintain technical proficiency through self‑study and required certifications. Additional responsibilities cover design and configuration of building control systems, creating flow diagrams, sequences, BOMs, network layouts, and schematics, testing software, compiling as‑built documentation, ordering materials, coordinating factory‑mounting, loading and commissioning controllers, validating system functionality, and supporting owner/operator training. • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of building control systems • Diagnose and resolve complex electronic and digital control system malfunctions • Provide on‑site customer consultations, field proposals, and upsell recommendations • Mentor and train control, service, and mechanical technicians, including certification support • Complete project documentation, manuals, as‑built records, and training materials • Coordinate with managers, subcontractors, and engineers to ensure safe, efficient project execution • Design and configure building automation systems; create diagrams, BOMs, schematics, and test software • Order materials, manage deliveries, and oversee factory‑mounting and commissioning processes • Conduct customer training and deliver post‑service recommendations

What You Bring

We are looking for a dedicated team member willing to learn and handle troubleshooting, repair, and aftermarket services. Minimum two years of commercial controls troubleshooting experience in HVAC (buildings, chillers), a vocational or associate degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience), and the ability to install/service electronic controls and HVAC equipment. Strong communication skills, ability to explain technical information to varied audiences, and knowledge of control theory and building automation are required. Candidates must be flexible to travel within Ottawa‑Kingston, have ten years Canadian residency for Secret Clearance, and meet the hourly range of $28.85‑$37.98. • Minimum 2 years commercial controls troubleshooting experience in HVAC (buildings, chillers) • Vocational school graduate or associate degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience • Ability to install and service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment • Strong communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences • Knowledge of control theory, building automation systems, and related subsystems • Flexibility to travel within the Ottawa‑Kingston region • Ten years Canadian residency required for Secret Clearance eligibility
