About the Role
In the marketing capacity, the specialist works with principals, senior staff, and the marketing team to design, write, and produce proposals, presentations, and other collateral that adhere to brand standards. They participate in strategy and planning sessions, champion new ideas, and develop materials that support business‑development activities. The communications component involves creating public‑relations assets such as press materials, project case‑story narratives, website content, and thought‑leadership pieces. The specialist collaborates with the PR team to maintain media assets, contact lists, and editorial calendars, and provides social‑media support through content development and community management. For speaking engagements, the specialist assists with speaker submissions, develops presentation content, talking points, and coordinates events as needed. They maintain an annual conference calendar, track related deadlines, and work with the team on hosted events, including those in the New York office. The role also includes preparing and submitting award nominations, supporting local and firm‑wide awards and ranking programs, and maintaining the award calendar in partnership with the communications manager. The role combines marketing duties—creating qualifications, proposals, presentations, and other deliverables for design services—with communications tasks such as award submissions, social media, events, and media relations. The ideal candidate is passionate about design, possesses superior graphic and writing skills, and thrives in a team‑player environment to amplify Gensler’s brand, reputation, and thought leadership. Qualified candidates have 3–10 years of experience in marketing, public relations, media, or communications—preferably in the AEC industry—strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in InDesign and Microsoft Office. Video filming and editing are a plus, and the role requires self‑motivation, strong organization, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a proactive, professional demeanor.
