About the Role
The Early Career Substation Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the department to produce work consistent with WSP's mission and culture, support departmental goals, maintain high‑quality standards, promote teamwork, and satisfy client needs. • Perform detailed design of low to extra‑high voltage substations, including diagrams, schematics, SCADA, communications, layouts, cable plans, ground grids, foundations, structural plans, control enclosures, lightning protection, yard lighting, bills of materials, and site visits. • Support QA/QC for client deliverables. • Learn and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or in a team on complex designs. • Complete training on assigned tasks. • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, following WSP’s Code of Conduct.

What You Bring
• 0–1 years of relevant post‑education experience. • BSEE or BSEET degree from an accredited university, preferably with a power option. • Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering. • Willingness to live in the Columbus area or relocate. • Excellent written and oral English communication skills. • Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship. • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP health, safety, and harassment policies. • Preferred: Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. • Preferred: Membership or active participation in local professional practice organizations. • Preferred: 3+ months of relevant electrical engineering experience (internship or co‑op). • Preferred: Minimum 3.0 GPA. • Preferred: Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design.
