About the Role

The Equipment Operator position at Pike Electric involves operating heavy equipment to construct, repair, and maintain overhead electrical distribution systems that support the nation’s power grid. The role requires collaboration with line‑workers to meet project objectives and to respond quickly to storm restoration needs. • Operate heavy equipment and vehicles safely during construction, maintenance, and storm restoration. • Secure personal and crew safety by following established safety rules and using PPE. • Assist line‑workers with tasks such as stringing overhead wire, setting poles, and installing transformers and other equipment. • Perform rigging, hand‑line work, knot tying, and basic bucket‑rescue procedures. • Inspect rubber goods, PPE, and equipment; maintain tools and company vehicles in good condition. • Identify primary/secondary voltage, understand induced voltage, and check voltage on transformers. • Travel long distances on short notice, work overtime, and be available on weekends and holidays as needed.
