About the Role

The Assistant Project Manager supports a team of Project Managers across a varied portfolio, maintaining accurate project data, updating schedules, managing documentation and ensuring smooth delivery. The role involves using Microsoft Project Gantt charts, contributing to quality, risk and time planning, and producing high‑quality contractual notices and reports. • Assist with activity planning, sequencing and scheduling using Microsoft Project Gantt charts. • Contribute to quality, risk and time planning across multiple live projects. • Maintain accurate project data in the Digital Project Management System. • Prepare and issue contractual notices, progress and commercial reports, and professional email correspondence. • Support document control to ensure records are up‑to‑date. • Help forecast future resource and time needs for planning. • Liaise with internal stakeholders, clients and delivery partners professionally. • Coordinate efforts to meet deadlines, commitments and milestones. • Learn project milestone and payment processes and gather required documentation. • Identify and recommend process improvements and remove inefficiencies. • Uphold health, safety, environmental, data protection and quality compliance.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate has proven or transferable experience in creating and updating project Gantt plans, change management, and clear written and verbal communication. Strong organisational skills, IT literacy (Word, Excel, Microsoft Project), and the ability to balance multiple priorities and work collaboratively are essential. A positive, flexible attitude and a commitment to inclusion, diversity and health & safety are also required. • Experience creating and updating project Gantt chart plans. • Knowledge of project change management. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to organise and balance multiple priorities. • IT proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Project. • Ability to consult, negotiate and build positive relationships. • ONC/HNC or higher in Business Management, Engineering or related field (preferred). • Business Management or Engineering work experience (preferred). • Familiarity with NEC3 contracts (preferred). • Formal Project Management training (preferred). • Interest in organisational change and continuous improvement (preferred). • Experience with digital tools for project portfolio planning and tracking (preferred).
