About the Role
The incumbent will coordinate and support the EHS Manager in developing and facilitating area forums to share best practices and integrate EHS programs across the region, including corporate, group, and regional initiatives. The role also serves as the plant environmental coordinator under the ISO 14000 program. Key responsibilities include setting short- and long-term EHS risk management goals, guiding the plant’s safety and environmental strategies such as OSHA VPP, return-to-work programs, wellness improvements, and compliance activities, and managing waste treatment systems. The incumbent will also plan and deliver required statutory training, evaluate EHS impacts of new equipment or construction, and contribute to budgeting inputs. Additional duties involve maintaining current knowledge of government regulations and corporate policies, ensuring permits for air pollution and sewer compliance are up-to-date, preparing timely government filings, and keeping the plant’s environmental data in the corporate database. The role also develops job safety analyses, assesses ergonomic improvements, investigates incidents, administers workers’ compensation claims, and oversees medical supply spending and safety reporting. The incumbent supports housekeeping, promotes continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with ISO 14001, quality systems, OSHA, and all applicable statutory and local regulations. Effective coordination with cross-functional process improvement teams is required. • Develop and implement short- and long-term EHS risk management goals. • Guide plant safety and environmental strategies, including OSHA VPP, return-to-work, work-hardening, wellness, and compliance programs. • Manage plant waste treatment systems. • Plan and conduct statutory training programs. • Evaluate EHS impacts of new equipment, processes, and construction projects. • Provide input for EHS budgeting. • Monitor and maintain compliance with government regulations and corporate policies. • Ensure air-pollution and sewer permits are current and complied with. • Prepare and submit accurate government EHS reports and filings. • Maintain plant data in the corporate environmental database. • Develop, write, and maintain Job Safety Analyses for all processes. • Assess and implement ergonomic improvements in job design. • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and close calls and ensure corrective actions. • Administer workers’ compensation insurance and claim management. • Control and evaluate medical supply expenditures. • Generate safety, health, and leave-related reports. • Maintain housekeeping standards and support team cleaning efforts. • Support continuous improvement initiatives and achieve department and plant goals.

What You Bring
The position requires 4-5 years of EHS management experience, self-starting attitude, strong written and oral communication skills, and knowledge of environmental, health, and safety legislation. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of industrial chemistry, wastewater treatment technologies, manufacturing processes, and software solutions, and professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are preferred.
