About the Role
Inspectors conduct routine inspections, testing, service, and preventive maintenance on electrical, sprinkler, and suppression life‑safety product lines, as well as comparable manufacturers’ systems. They meet customer expectations, document deficiencies, follow a structured schedule, make minor repairs, complete service acknowledgments using digital tools, assist foremen with wet, dry, pre‑action and deluge system installations, and perform physical labor in challenging positions while enrolled in Grinnell’s approved apprenticeship program. • Conduct inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on life‑safety systems • Document deficiencies and complete service acknowledgments using laptops, smartphones, or paperwork • Follow a structured inspection schedule and complete assignments on time • Perform minor repairs and programming changes on inspected systems • Assist foremen with installation of wet, dry, pre‑action, and deluge sprinkler systems • Carry/move equipment and tools up to 70 lb and work on ladders, scaffolding, and high‑lift equipment

What You Bring
Applicants must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and either possess or be able to obtain NICET I certification within eight months. Required abilities include reading blueprints and specifications, using hand tools and multimeters, lifting 50‑70 lb equipment, working at heights up to 40 ft, flexible scheduling (including on‑call, nights, weekends), travel, strong customer service, safety adherence, organizational skills, a valid driver’s license, and passing background and drug screenings. • High school diploma or equivalent • NICET I certification (or obtain within 8 months) • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and manuals • Experience with hand tools and multimeters • Physical ability to lift 50‑70 lb and work at heights up to 40 ft • Strong customer service focus • Organizational skills and positive attitude • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record • Pass pre‑employment background check and drug test
