About the Role
The Construction Office Engineer role supports the Perris South Metrolink Project in California, working on‑site to oversee the delivery of the station, layover facility, platform work, and associated utilities and sitework. This position involves coordination with clients, design consultants, contractors, and various project stakeholders from pre‑construction through close‑out. Key responsibilities include managing project documentation, preparing payment applications, coordinating field conditions with contract documents, and producing progress reports. The engineer also supports quality assurance, ensures compliance with agency standards such as Caltrans and SCRRA/Metrolink, and assists with project close‑out and as‑built documentation. • Maintain and distribute project plans, specifications, drawings, and engineering submittals. • Prepare payment applications and verify contractor billing against documented progress. • Create and update tracking logs, following up with responsible parties regularly. • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and contractors to reconcile field conditions with contract documents. • Draft meeting minutes, action lists, and follow‑up items from technical and coordination meetings. • Ensure office records reflect field progress and clarify design intent and contract requirements. • Review design drawings and specifications to identify inconsistencies and flag coordination issues. • Produce weekly/monthly progress reports summarizing design status, construction progress, cost issues, and schedule risks. • Assist with quality assurance/quality control documentation and flag non‑conformance reports. • Support compliance with agency standards (e.g., Caltrans, SCRRA/Metrolink) for documentation and record keeping. • Maintain current project documentation and aid in project close‑out and as‑built preparation. • Review submissions for completeness and compliance with project requirements. • Utilize project management software and document control systems to streamline client review and approval processes.

What You Bring
Candidates must have a BA/BS degree and at least four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work history. Preferred qualifications include a degree in civil engineering or construction management, proficiency with project management and engineering software, strong organizational and communication skills, and knowledge of heavy civil/rail construction contracts. • BA/BS degree with at least four years of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience. • Preferred civil engineering or construction management degree. • Proficiency with project management, document control, and common engineering software packages. • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. • Understanding of heavy civil/rail construction contract requirements.
