About the Role
The Underground Crew Leader is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized underground electrical distribution systems, ensuring safety and quality on every job. This role supervises crew members, plans work from job prints or work orders, and conducts pre‑job briefings and tailgate meetings. • Supervise and train crew members on safe, productive underground work procedures. • Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of underground distribution systems, both energized and de‑energized. • Conduct pre‑job and tailgate briefings to communicate safety and job requirements. • Troubleshoot underground circuit problems, identify primary and secondary voltage, and manage induced voltage issues. • Install, test, and classify soil, terminate cables, and apply grounding procedures. • Operate and phase out lines using phasing sticks, and obtain one‑shot reclosing as needed. • Plan safe work based on job prints or work orders, including sloping, shoring, and ladder requirements. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, tools, PPE, and rubber goods in good condition. • Coordinate and inspect crew work, ensuring compliance with line clearances and protection devices. • Adhere to flag and tag procedures, and correctly install and remove PPE and cover‑ups. • Commit to overtime, weekend, and holiday work as required by project schedules.

What You Bring
The position demands regular standing, walking, lifting over 50 lbs, and exposure to outdoor weather, fumes, noise, and vibration. Employees must be able to work extended periods in various locations, including weekends and holidays, and must follow all company safety rules and policies. • Travel long distances on short notice, possessing a CDL and demonstrating safe driving habits. • Lift more than 50 lbs and work outdoors in inclement weather, including confined spaces.
