About the Role

The Rodman is responsible for transporting and setting up surveying instruments and equipment, and for preparing the job site for land surveys. The role requires learning and adhering to safety hazards associated with plant operations or construction sites. Work is performed in a plant operations or construction environment, often outdoors and subject to varying weather conditions. The position may involve working on uneven terrain, in confined spaces, and on steel or wood frameworks such as ladders and scaffolds. • Clear trees, brush, and other obstructions from the survey line. • Lay out stakes to establish points for elevation measurements. • Assist the surveyor in determining elevations. • Provide support to other craft workers as needed. • Lift, push, or pull equipment weighing up to 50 lb (occasionally 100 lb). • Operate electric, gas, or pneumatic hand and power tools safely. • Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood frameworks, ladders, and scaffolds. • Work on uneven, muddy, rocky, or soft‑sand surfaces and in confined spaces. • Perform tasks in adverse weather conditions such as heat, cold, or rain. • Make decisions and stay detail‑oriented while working under varying tempos.
